Aethyr ADHD ("Aethyr", "we", "us") is designed around a simple promise: your personal information stays on your device. This policy explains what that means, the one optional exception, and your choices.
If you have any questions, contact us at aethyr@aethyradhd.com.
The short version
- Aethyr is on-device by default. Your notes, thoughts, feelings, reminders, medication information, diary entries, tasks, journeys, saved items and other content are stored only on your device.
- We do not run accounts, we do not have servers that store your personal content, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information.
- There is one optional feature — Safe Search — that, only if you choose to use it and only after you agree, sends the words you type into the search box to a trusted third-party information source to look them up. Nothing else is ever sent.
- You are asked for permission each time you use online Safe Search in a new session. If you decline, nothing is sent.
Information stored on your device
Aethyr lets you capture and organise personal information, which may include: thoughts, feelings and mood entries, reminders, medication names and schedules, diary and journal entries, tasks and task breakdowns, saved items and places, focus-timer settings, and app preferences.
All of this is stored locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party. We cannot see it, access it, or recover it. If you delete the app, this information is removed with it, subject to any device backups you have configured through Apple.
We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers to collect this content.
The one exception: optional online Safe Search
Aethyr includes a Safe Search feature that can look up general information and instructions.
- Some results are produced entirely on your device, from built-in content or, on supported devices, Apple’s on-device intelligence. In these cases nothing leaves your device.
- If a result requires an online lookup, Aethyr will first ask your permission. A clear screen explains that only the words you typed will be sent, and to which source. Nothing happens until you tap to allow it.
- If you allow it, Aethyr sends only the search words you typed to a trusted third-party information provider, currently Wikipedia, operated by the Wikimedia Foundation, to retrieve information. The result is then shown to you as a text card inside Aethyr. No web page or browser is opened.
- Your consent applies only to the current session. The next time you open the app, Aethyr will ask again before any online lookup. Your choice is not stored or remembered.
What is never sent during Safe Search: your diary, thoughts, feelings, medication information, reminders, tasks, location data, contacts, identifiers, or any other personal content. Only the specific words you type into the search box are sent, and only with your permission.
When an online lookup occurs, the third-party provider will necessarily receive the search words and standard technical information that accompanies any internet request, such as your device’s IP address, and will handle that request under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.
ADHD support Search: The ADHD support Search feature opens only approved, safety-reviewed resources. When you choose to search one of these resources, the words you type may be included in the request sent to the selected website. The website will also receive standard technical information associated with an internet request, such as your IP address, and will process the request under its own privacy policy. Aethyr does not receive, store or retain those searches.
Children and young people
Aethyr may be used by people under 18. We take this seriously. Aethyr does not create profiles of users, does not require an account, and does not collect personal information for advertising or tracking.
Safe Search applies safety checks intended to prevent unsafe searches, and online lookups are limited to trusted, moderated sources and require explicit permission each session. Parents and guardians who have questions can contact us at aethyr@aethyradhd.com.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not share your personal content with third parties for their own purposes.
- We do not use third-party advertising or serve ads.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not store your personal content on our own servers. We do not operate servers that receive it.
Data security
Because your personal content stays on your device, its security is tied to your device’s own protections, such as your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and Apple’s built-in protections.
We recommend keeping your device updated and protected with a passcode or biometric lock.
Your choices and rights
- Safe Search: You can decline online lookups at any time; simply tap “Not now” when asked. On-device results do not require permission.
- Deleting your data: You can delete individual entries within the app, or delete the app to remove its locally stored content from your device.
- Region-specific rights: Depending on where you live, for example under the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have rights regarding personal data. Because Aethyr does not collect or hold your personal content on our systems, most such requests are satisfied by the fact that your data remains solely in your control on your device. If you have questions, contact us at aethyr@aethyradhd.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Aethyr handles information, we will update this policy and revise the “Last updated” date above.
Material changes affecting how your information is used will be reflected in the app or on our website before they take effect where practicable.
